Emilio Cardona
Emilio Ruiz Cardona, born in Palma de Mallorca in 1963, has always preferred having something between his fingers to leave a mark or add color. Restless and creative, he sacrificed the conventional life to pursue the development of his spirit from a humanistic perspective. Embracing a bohemian lifestyle, indulging in physical excess, reading endlessly, traveling with boundless curiosity, and painting ceaselessly, he knew early on that this would be his chosen language. He quickly realized that by mixing all these elements—along with others omitted out of honest forgetfulness—he could help dismantle an oppressive orthodoxy in life, significantly increasing his own silence and vulnerability.
Throughout his life, he has carried a metaphorical deserted island in his "life backpack," where he spent essential periods of solitude. Self-taught except for two years in the studio of Marta Christel, he has focused on creating, exploring, transgressing, and experimenting with materials and lights. Although he began exhibiting his work later in life, his art reflects a lifetime of experience and acquired knowledge.
